Having wandered the planet as teacher, storyteller, linguist, singer, author and, here, liturgist, Jonathan Larson has composed much of this material while serving communities on three continents and in multiple languages.

Hence the background hint of the plaintive strain of an Indian bhajan*, the sway of black gospel, the earnest prayer of an all-night desert vigil, the feel of an ornate cathedral chalice, an echo of evensong or the throb of steel drums. Such elements of yearning the author takes into an encounter with familiar Scriptures imbuing them with rhythm and freshness, leaving them ringing in the ears of the faithful.
He keeps company now with Anabaptists in Durham, North Carolina where he tends a global story blog, ‘Traipse’, at: jonathanlarsonblog.com.
