An Easter Litany of Tidings

You who have risen before dawn
To remember with grief and tenderness
The failed promise of the one you loved,
There is news from the garden.
You who wince with guilt at leaving his side
Or at disowning his friendship,
There is news from the garden.
You who are resigned to plod on down a sad path
Having lost aspiration and hope,
There is news from the garden.
You who despair of any calling or purpose
Beyond the drudgery of duty,
There is news from the garden.
Indeed, a voice is calling your name
In the half-light and chill.
There is news from the garden.
All or chorus: Christ is risen, he is risen indeed!
