Adding to Thoughts and Prayers

From Isaiah 58

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
standing with orphans and with the abandoned,

Then you will become a fountain of healing and health.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
food for the famished and raiment for the naked,

Then you will become an ascendant sun at dawn.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
shelter for the homeless, the exile and the immigrant,

Then you will find a sure path to the land of promise.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
mercy for the burdened, the disgraced and the guilty,

Then you will become a watered garden, an oasis in the desert.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
dignity and freedom for the crushed and cloistered,

Then you will become a city rampart restored and worthy.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
slowness to blame, reluctance to condemn,

Then you will ride in freedom the very heights of heaven and earth.

Should you add to thoughts and prayers,
devotion to the good and to the way of heaven,

Then you will call out in imploring prayer to me
and you will hear me say, ‘Here I am.’
AMEN
